Product labeling compliance
Labels reviewed against Philippine FDA rules before printing, so they pass evaluation, clear the port and stay on the shelf.
Overview
Labels are checked at every stage
The FDA sets labeling requirements for each product category, and labels are checked during product evaluation, at the port and on the shelf. A label that is missing a mandatory element, makes a claim the product is not authorized to carry, or does not match the registered product can lead to rejected applications, held shipments and recalls. Labels must be in English or Filipino.
For food, labels must carry nutrition information, allergen declarations and the other mandatory elements the rules require, such as the product name, net contents, ingredients and the details of the manufacturer or importer. Cosmetics, drugs and medical devices each have their own requirements. We review your artwork against the rules for your category before printing and confirm what applies to your product.

Frequently asked questions
Labeling questions, answered
Can I sell imported products with their original foreign labels?
Products sold in the Philippines must carry labels in English or Filipino with the mandatory information the FDA requires. Foreign-language labels are often supplemented with a compliant sticker, which must itself meet the rules. We confirm what your product needs.
Do I need FDA approval to change a label?
Some changes are minor, while others, such as changes to claims, ingredients or brand name, can require notification or approval before the new label is used. We assess each change against the rules for your category.
What makes a label non-compliant?
Common problems include missing mandatory information, unapproved claims, incorrect allergen or nutrition information on food, and details that do not match the registered product. Any of these can hold up a registration or a shipment.
