Accounting and tax in the Philippines

Keep your Philippines entity’s books in order, your BIR tax filings on time and your statutory contributions paid, all managed end to end.

Understanding accounting and tax

What a Philippine entity owes, and when

A Philippine entity answers to several authorities at once. The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) sets the tax calendar, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) expects annual financial statements, and the Social Security System (SSS), PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG collect contributions for every employee on payroll. Each has its own forms, portals and deadlines, and none of them waits until you are ready.

Foreign owners feel this most. The books are kept far from where the owner sits, rules change through new revenue issuances, and a missed filing still carries penalties when there is nothing to pay. We take over the whole cycle: bookkeeping, BIR registration and returns, payroll and contributions, audit support and ongoing advice, with one team and one set of numbers.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about accounting and tax

Yes. A registered company is generally expected to keep books and file its returns even in a quiet period, including returns that show nothing due. Setup costs and rent still need to be recorded. We set up the books at registration so nothing has to be rebuilt later.

It depends on its registration and taxpayer category. Most companies file withholding returns if they pay salaries or suppliers, plus income tax returns each quarter and each year, and either value-added tax or percentage tax depending on the activity. We read your certificate of registration and give you the list in writing.

Yes, and many of our clients are in exactly that position. You approve returns and payroll by email, receive monthly reports in English and never need to be in the Philippines for routine filings.

We start by working out what is outstanding and what penalties and interest have built up, then bring the filings current in a sensible order. Penalties grow with delay, so the sooner we start, the less the clean-up costs.

Yes. We run payroll, withhold income tax on compensation, and remit employer and employee contributions to the Social Security System, PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG, including 13th month pay and year-end reports.
